New Delhi: The apex court has dismissed a petition filed by students to conduct CBSE and ICSE, ISC Board Term 1 examination in hybrid mode in the academic year 2022. Term 1 board examinations will now be conducted in offline mode and students will not get the option to appear online. Senior advocate Sanjay Hegde said in court that the epidemic is not over yet and it is too early to say that the examinations will be offline.

Sanjay told the court that offline examinations can spread viruses among children. This could affect 1.4 million students and the petitioners only want the hybrid mode to continue. Meanwhile, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that the hybrid exam was not conducted last year. There are 14 lakh students in class 10 and 20 lakh students in class 12. The examinations have already started on November 16, 2021, with a notice issued in October. Concerns of the corona epidemic have been taken care of.

Mehta argued that earlier 40 students used to sit in the class, but now only 12 students will sit in the class so that social distancing is followed. With this, the examination centres have been increased to 15,000. Also, the exam time of three hours has now been reduced to 90 minutes. He said security measures have been taken without disrupting the examination process.
