NEW DELHI: CBSE has started preparing to rein in coaching institutes that have grown like mushrooms across the country. These coaching institutes have become an additional source of money collection. Schools are running parallel classes in their campus in the name of the coaching institute. Integrated courses are also being run through which preparations are being made for CBSE syllabus and various competitive examinations. After receiving this information, the Board has taken a tough stand and directed such schools to stop these professional activities immediately.

If no one agrees, action can be taken as per the Board's Affiliation Bylaws 2018. According to the CBSE, running such classes for professional purpose by any name is a violation of the board's associated bye-laws. CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi has instructed schools to close tuition or coaching classes that are parallel to the school time table. This is affecting the time table of the classrooms of the schools.

As per Rule 28 of the RTE Act 2009, no teacher can involve himself in private tuition or private teaching. According to Rule 14.10 of the CBSE's Affiliation Bylaws 2018, the campus of a school cannot be used for commercial activity.  CBSE has received complaints regarding some schools that students or parents have been misled in the name of preparation for competitive examinations.
