New Delhi: The country's Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat said through video conference on Thursday that the 20th century has seen a profound change in the character and nature of war because of information inclusion and technological development. New tools and tactics can be employed to connect people faster, as never before.

CDS Rawat said in the conference that, India is facing a complex security and challenging environment. Defining structural reforms in national security strategy, high defense strategic guidance, high defense and operational organizations are some of the important steps that we need to take. He adds that, 'The Indian Army faces more challenges than any other army in the world and hence there is a need to study the change concepts adopted in other countries to complete the spectrum of war.'

General Bipin Rawat further stated that, as an instrument of the country's policy, military power needs to be transformed at different levels, including the grassroots strategic ie political-military, strategic operations and tactical levels. He said that the major dimensions of change are principles, design structure, technology, livelihood and preparedness.
