Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Administration Minister KT Rama Rao has made a request to the Center on Monday. In this request, he said that he should immediately release Rs 2,537.81 crore pending under various centrally sponsored schemes for urban development. Apart from this, he asked the Center to conduct a survey to study the feasibility of five other airports in the state and simultaneously expedite the process of setting up Warangal Airport under the UDAN scheme.

In fact, Rama Rao did all these things with Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Housing, Urban Affairs and Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri in his office building in Delhi. During this, he informed the Union Minister about the issues related to municipal administration and urban development. Apart from this, he also demanded for release of funds under major centrally sponsored schemes. With this, he spoke about various projects taken by the state government to provide basic amenities (public toilets, dump yards, sewage treatment plants) in urban areas under urban development programs.

He also spoke about the implementation of the new municipal act, among others. Indeed, the state government has constructed 1.4 lakh double-bedroom houses in the state in urban areas. In fact, the central fund of Rs 1,184 crore has not yet been released under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), due to which it was said to be released. Apart from this, he also told the Union Minister that, 'Further amount of pending grants of Rs 217.49 crore under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SMB-Urban) and Rs 351.7 crore under AMRUT scheme are yet to be released'.
