Union Cabinet hikes ethanol price, approves extension of jute packaging norms

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has met on Thursday under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, in which many important decisions have been taken. On giving information about the cabinet decision, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the mechanism has been approved for the purchase of ethanol. He said that along with this, food grains will be packed in jute bags to promote jute bags. The packages of food grains will be in jute bags and 20% packets of sugar will be made from jute.

In addition, the second and third phases of the plan for the protection and repair of dams in the Union Cabinet have been approved. About 10 thousand 211 crore rupees will be spent on this project on selected 736 dams across the country. Under this scheme, existing dams will be developed on the basis of new technology. The dams which have become very old will be improved.

On giving information about this during the press briefing of the Union Cabinet, it has been told that 80% of the budget of the project related to these dams will come from the World Bank and AIIB. In addition, the number of dams will be increased in the second phase of the plan. 19 states of the country have been included in this scheme.
