New Delhi: Central Government is going to control the price of hygiene products. For the betterment of health, the Government can take this step very much. These products include sanitary napkins, hand wash, disinfectant and adult diapers. The Government is preparing a list of products which need to be reduced. The Government is also preparing a separate list of medical equipment, disposable and hygien products. Recently, the Government had reduced the prices of some essential medicines.
The price of 384 essential medicines was controlled by capping its maximum retail price. The government has imposed a cap of 30 per cent on the trade margin for 42 cancer drugs. In addition to this list, the company is allowed to raise the price by up to 10 per cent for all medicines. According to a newspaper report, an official has said that the list of essential hygiene products is in the final stages and the list may be released within the next two months.
The list is divided into two parts: Primary category and Secondary category. The price of the products placed in the primary category has been kept under control. For secondary products, the Government will ensure that it gets people at a reasonable price. After the list is issued, it will be decided whether to cap the trade margin or draw the boundary on the sealing price. The decision will be taken by the NITI Aayog committee. The government is doing a lot about health in the country. Awareness about the well-being of the people is being created.
