The IT Ministry has ordered the CBI probe into the Facebook Cambridge Analytica case. In the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad gave information about this during the discussion in the Rajya Sabha. The Government of India has also asked the names of the companies that took their services from Cambridge Analytica. In the notice issued by the IT Ministry, it was also asked whether the company is using the data of Indians and whether any profiling was done based on such data?

Cambridge Analycia has alleged that she wrongly influenced elections by collecting information from profiles of more than 50 million Facebook users. After this case has been exposed, US and UK agencies are investigating Facebook and Cambridge analytics.

In a notice sent to Cambridge Analyst, it was asked whether the company was involved in collecting data of Indians to influence elections and who were those who had given the job to the company. The ministry also asked how it got data from the people and how the company used that data. In this case, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) also issued an alert for people how to protect their personal information on the social media from being stolen.
