New Delhi: On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Indian Air Force, a formal parade was organized at the Air Force Station in Chandigarh on Saturday (October 8) morning. Air Force Chief VR Chaudhary inspected the parade, following which a march-past was taken out. Speaking at the event, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary said that the central government has given the green signal to set up an arms systems wing for officers in the Indian Air Force. He said that for the first time after independence, a new operational branch is being created in the Air Force.

Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary has claimed that the creation of this branch will help the government save more than Rs 3,400 crore by cutting the cost of flying training. Air Marshal Sreekumar Prabhakaran, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Air Command and several other senior Air Force officers were present at the event. During this, the Air Force Chief said that it is a challenge for all of us to induct air warriors into the Indian Air Force through the Agnipath scheme. But, importantly, this is a golden opportunity for us to tap the potential of the youth of India and put it in the service of the nation.

He further said, 'We have got a proud legacy from the hard work, dedication and vision of the past. We have to remember the contribution of our veterans who brought it this far. Now the onus is on us to bring it into the centenary decade.'
