New Delhi: A cabinet meeting led by PM Narendra Modi was held on Thursday. Union Minister Anurag Thakur briefed the decisions in the press conference. The Government of India has given the green signal for the formation of a Central University in the Union Territory of Ladakh. According to Anurag Thakur, the university will be built with Rs 750 crores. This decision will give benefits to the local youth. The university will cover areas of Leh, Kargil, and Ladakh.

The Union Cabinet has also decided to set up an Infrastructure Corporation in Ladakh, which will decide on trade and other related issues in the local area. Anurag Thakur said that its establishment will accelerate development in Ladakh. It has been brought under the Companies Act, the corporation will have a budget of up to Rs 25 crore. The Union Cabinet has taken a major decision in view of the steel industry. The central government has announced a PLI plan to reduce steel imports. The scheme will hold more than 6,000 crores rupees, which will also help in an investment of 40,000 crores rupees.

The cabinet meeting was held in the middle of the Parliament session as the monsoon session of Parliament is currently underway. The cabinet meeting is often held on Wednesdays, but the meeting took place on Thursdays as eid was a holiday the previous day. In the last cabinet meeting, the Central Government had taken an important decision like increasing the DA.
