New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Saturday issued an advisory for TV channels. In this, the Government has instructed the channels not to run any kind of provocative content. At the same time, the Ministry has objected to the Russo-Ukraine war, coverage of the events in northwest Delhi and the language of the debate. Interestingly, on April 16, violence broke out in Delhi's Jahangirpuri area. A week later, the notice was issued by the government.
On the coverage of the incidents in northwest Delhi, the government said it contained "provocative headlines and videos of violence that could incite communal hatred between communities and disturb law and order and peace." It is hampering the ongoing process of investigation by showing unverified CCTV footage. At the same time, the government has also mentioned the "fabricated headlines" and the "communal colour" given to the actions of the authorities.
On the Russo-Ukraine war, the ministry said, "News channels are making false claims and are constantly making false references to international agencies/actors, using the scandalous headline/tagline, which has nothing to do with the news.'' It was further said that many journalists and news anchors of these channels made many fabricated and exaggerated statements with the intention of provoking the audience.
