New Delhi: The vaccine has been delivered to beat the corona in every nook and corner of the country, with vaccination in several states since January 16. The rumours about the vaccine are not being called off. The Centre has asked states to take punitive action against "spreading rumours" who are currently associated with the coronavirus vaccine administered in India.
In a letter to all states and union territories last week on the impact of Covaxin and Covishield vaccine, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said states should come together to deal with such misinformation and take punitive action under the Disaster Management Act and the Indian Penal Code. He said, "I would like to stress that the national regulatory authority in the country has found both the vaccine safe and defensive."
However, it has been reported that unfounded rumours are spreading across social and other media, creating doubts about the safety and efficacy of these vaccines. Rumours of this kind can create unreasonable doubts among people at large, and therefore the impact of the vaccine and all forms of improprieties related to immunogenetics need to be investigated for intimidation.
