New Delhi: PM Modi has approved the scheme of 100 percent electrification of railways. Railways has announced this on Saturday. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that we are about to build 100 percent electrified rail network which will be 120,000 km of track. Goyal said, by 2030, we hope that India will be the world's largest green railway.

Addressing India Global Week 2020, Piyush Goyal said that there are clear signs that India is returning back on track. We have always shown the ability to return fast. Historically, India has faced many challenges, but we have always shown the ability to return fast. Let us tell you that recently, the Railways had talked about operating a train with the power of solar power. Railways has also set up a solar power plant at Bina in Madhya Pradesh. This will generate power of 1.7 mega watt and will directly reach the over head of the trains. Railways claim that India is the first country in the world to do so.

Railways have also prepared a battery-powered engine. It has also been successfully tested. According to the railway, the engine with batteries has been built to save electricity and diesel consumption. Railway said that the dual mode shunting loco 'Navdoot' has been constructed in Jabalpur division of West Central Railway. This battery-powered loco will be a big step in saving diesel as well as environmental protection.
