New Delhi: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said in a statement last Thursday that the redevelopment work of Central Vista Avenue from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate will be completed within two and a half months. According to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the project will be ready in time to host the Republic Day parade in 2022. In fact, Hardeep Singh Puri recently asserted, "The winter session of Parliament will be held in the new Parliament House next year.''
In fact, Hardeep Singh Puri was speaking at the inauguration of defense office complexes at Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Africa Avenue in the capital Delhi. Let me tell you all that these complexes have been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The new Defence Office complexes are said to have a workspace for about 7,000 officers of the Ministry of Defence and armed forces, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Hardeep Singh Puri said, "I would like to assure you (Prime Minister) that the redevelopment of Central Vista Avenue will be completed in two and a half months where the Republic Day parade will be held (next year).'' Referring to the new Defence Office premises, Hardeep Singh Puri said, "Their work was completed in just 12 months. New and durable construction technology LGSF (Light Gauge Steel Frame) has been used in the construction of both defense office premises.''
He also said, "Under LGSF technology, at least 24 months are earmarked for construction of such buildings but it has been completed in 12 months. 8,782 MT of steel and 7,920 MT of cement have been used for construction. Construction of defense office complex is part of central vista project. Under the project, the entire area of Rajpath is to be redeveloped along with the construction of a new Parliament House and a new Central Secretariat.''
Let me tell you all that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Defence Ministry office complex at Africa Avenue on September 16, after which the process of shifting employees is being carried forward. In fact, the transfer of offices will free up 50 acres of land for the development of Central Vista. The Defence Ministry will vacate 9.2 lakh square feet of space in these barracks and take up 9.6 lakh sq ft of space in two new multi-story edifices spread over a total area of 13 acres.
