Centre announces new composition of Standing Committee of ISC

New Delhi: The Central government has announced a new composition for the Inter-State Council (ISC) Standing Committee, which contains 13 members, including Chairman Amit Shah.

The action was made in supersession of the Inter-State Council Secretariat's notification of August 9, 2019, and with the permission of the Prime Minister, according to the Ministry of Home's gazette notification issued on Friday.

The group also includes four additional cabinet members from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and eight Chief Ministers. Ministers from the Union Cabinet, including Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar, and Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, are members of the committee.

Other members of the committee include Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

On the subjects before the Council, the Standing Committee will conduct ongoing consultations. Before being considered by the Inter-State Council, it processes all matters relevant to Centre-State Relations.
