Centre asks Northeast states to increase number of corona vaccine beneficiaries

India has started the vaccination drive against coronavirus across the nation. The northeastern states have also started the vaccination drive but the number of Covid19 vaccine beneficiaries are less in these states.  The Union health ministry gave the suggestions after almost all the northeastern states have witnessed very minimum vaccination on Wednesday.

The Union health ministry on Wednesday asked all the Northeastern states to increase the number of Covid19 vaccine beneficiaries. According to the data, Assam vaccinated 162 beneficiaries on Wednesday, Manipur 360, Meghalaya 482, Mizoram 872, Nagaland 547, and Sikkim 257. No vaccination took place in Tripura on Wednesday.

India has started the vaccination drive on January 16 across India, a total of 23,28,779 beneficiaries were vaccinated through 41,599 sessions.  As many as 2,99,299 beneficiaries were vaccinated on Wednesday through 5,308 sessions held till 6 pm. Five states including Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan registered 79% vaccination. A total of 123 Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFI) have been reported till 6 pm on the 12th day of the vaccination drive. A total of 16 persons have been hospitalized so far.
