Centre notifies setting up of campuses of NFSU in Goa, Tripura

New Delhi: The National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) will open campuses in Goa and Tripura, according to a notification from the Central government.

In a notification released on Monday, the Women Safety Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) mentioned the Central government's action as part of plans to establish 10 NFSU campuses in various states and five abroad over the following five years.

The Central Government hereby notifies that the campuses established in Goa and Tripura shall include in the campuses of the National Forensic Sciences University in accordance with the authority granted by sub-section (4) of section 4 of the National Forensic Sciences University Act, 2020 (32 of 2020).

National Forensic Science University (NFSU), located in Gandhinagar, was established in 2020 through a parliamentary act. A move to integrate forensic sciences into state police and court systems in accordance with the demands of their various law and order circumstances is the establishment of 10 NFSU campuses in various states. The relocation is a component of the MHA's plan, which governs how the university operates.

According to official sources, the institution and MHA were in discussions with the governments of Tripura and Goa about opening campuses. Similar discussions regarding the opening of its campuses were also ongoing with Manipur, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Odisha, Assam, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
