Centre presents 4 Constitution Amendment Bills in Lok Sabha

NEW DELHI: The Central government on Friday introduced four Constitution Amendment Bills in the Lok Sabha. 2 Bills are related to amending the list of scheduled tribes (ST)  in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and the other two are related to inclusion of certain communities in the list of scheduled tribes (St) in Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh. 
Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda unveiled the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bills 2022 for Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh.

The Bill for the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Second Amendment) aims to change Tamil Nadu's list of Scheduled Tribes.

Similarly,  the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Third Amendment) Bill seeks to include specific communities in Himachal Pradesh's list of Scheduled Tribes.

Another bill seeks to amend the list of Scheduled Tribes in Karnataka.

The fourth bill proposes to add specific communities to Chhattisgarh's list of Scheduled Tribes.
Periodically, the government introduces measures to change the Scheduled Tribes list in accordance with suggestions provided by states.
