New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday deputed central teams of experts for nine states and Union Territories to provide technical assistance in tackling the rising dengue cases. As per the information received, the Health Ministry has taken this step as the cases of dengue are on the rise in Haryana, Punjab, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir. The expert teams are said to include officials from the National Centre for Disease Control and the National Vector Barn Disease Control Programme.
Let us also tell all of you that while reviewing the dengue situation in Delhi, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had last Monday directed the Union Health Secretary to identify the states with the most active cases of dengue and send teams of experts there. Let me tell you that more than 1,530 dengue cases have been reported in Delhi so far this year and more than 1,200 have been reported in October alone. This is the highest number of dengue cases in a month in Delhi in the last four years.
Talking about Jammu and Kashmir, out of the total 993 dengue cases reported so far, 64 per cent are from District Jammu. In Jammu, the figure has reached 639 with 33 new cases last Tuesday. Several areas of the city are affected by dengue and dengue victims continue to reach hospitals despite the drop in temperature. In Madhya Pradesh, the number of dengue cases has gone up to over 10,500 this year. Let me tell you that dengue cases are being found in all the districts of the State. The state is said to have the highest number of dengue cases since 2015.
In fact, the number of patients had never reached even five thousand before. However, it is good that the condition of patients is not getting serious this year.
