NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, renewed his criticism of the Central government on Monday and outlined his demands ahead of India's 75th Independence Day. The CM asked the Center provide free high-quality education, healthcare, 300 electrical units to every household, and a "unemployment allowance" at an online briefing.

He criticised the BJP-led central government and claimed that instead of trying to increase free government welfare programmes in the 75th year of independence, a negative climate is being generated against them by calling them giveaways.

Some individuals refer to the free healthcare and education provided by government services as "freebies" or "rewadi." There is a growing sentiment in the nation that free healthcare and education at government facilities should not be offered.

"These people forgave their friends' loans totaling Rs 10 lakh crore. Such people ought to be labelled traitors, and action ought to be taken against them, he said.

The country's progress, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is "extremely perilous" because of what he called a "revadi culture" of giving away free things in exchange for votes.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal made a number of promises for the Gujarati people on Sunday with the impending Gujarat Assembly elections in mind, including offering a free power supply and enhancing the state's healthcare system.

The Aam Aadmi Party leader claimed that, around 25 lakh homes in Punjab recently received zero-rupee electricity bills, and many Delhi residents also enjoy this benefit.
