New Delhi: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) announced on Monday that more than 139.5 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been sent to States and Union Territories so far, with over 19.19 crore balance and unutilized doses remaining available to be administered.

"So far, 1,39,51,88,670 vaccine doses have been provided to States/Union Territoreis through the Government of India’s free of cost channel and direct state procurement category," according to the health ministry. "More than 19.19 Crore, precisely 19,19,03,551, balance and unutilized COVID vaccination doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered," the statement continued.

The immunisation campaign in the country has been stepped up thanks to the availability of more vaccinations, improved visibility of vaccine availability for states and UTs to enable better planning, and a more efficient vaccine supply chain. The Centre has been helping the states and UTs by providing them with free COVID vaccines as part of the nationwide vaccination drive.

The Central government would acquire and supply (free of cost), 75 percent of the vaccines manufactured by vaccine producers in the country to states and UTs in the new phase of the COVID-19 vaccination push.
