New Delhi: The health ministry announced on Monday that the nationwide immunisation programme has so far given more than 193.53 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses to states and union territories. According to data from the Ministry of Health, more than 16.46 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States and UTs to be administered.

"So far, the Government of India (free of cost channel) and direct state procurement categories have delivered more than 193.53 crores (1,93,53,58,865) vaccine doses to States/UTs. The States/UTs still have more than 16.46 crore (16,46,70,800) COVID-19 vaccine doses that need to be delivered "Today, the ministry was informed.

On January 16, 2021, the countrywide COVID 19 vaccination programme began. The new phase of COVID-19 vaccination universalization began on June 21, 2021. The immunisation campaign has been boosted by the availability of more vaccinations, improved visibility of vaccine availability for States and UTs to enable better planning, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain, according to the ministry.

The government has been helping the States and UTs by giving them with free COVID vaccines as part of the nationwide vaccination campaign.
