The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a warning about multiple security vulnerabilities found in various Apple products. These flaws are rated as "high severity" and could allow attackers to exploit systems, access sensitive information without permission, execute arbitrary code, and bypass security measures. The vulnerabilities also increase the risk of denial of service (DoS) attacks, privilege escalation, authentication bypasses, and spoofing threats.

These security issues affect a range of Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs, specifically those running software versions prior to iOS 18, iPadOS 17.7, and macOS 14.7, among others.

Affected Software Versions

The vulnerabilities impact the following Apple software versions:

  1. iOS versions prior to 18 and iPadOS versions prior to 18
  2. iOS versions prior to 17.7 and iPadOS versions prior to 17.7
  3. macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.7
  4. macOS Ventura versions prior to 13.7
  5. macOS Sequoia versions prior to 15
  6. tvOS versions prior to 18
  7. watchOS versions prior to 11
  8. Safari versions prior to 18
  9. Xcode versions prior to 16
  10. visionOS versions prior to 2

Important Security Alert for Apple Users

Your Apple device could face serious risks if it isn't updated:

  • iOS and iPadOS: Without the latest updates, your device may be exposed to DoS attacks, data theft, and security breaches.
  • macOS (Sonoma, Ventura, Sequoia): Older versions could be vulnerable to data tampering, cross-site scripting attacks, and more.
  • tvOS and watchOS: Outdated devices might experience DoS attacks and data breaches.
  • Safari and Xcode: These versions are at risk of security bypasses and spoofing.
  • visionOS: Risks include data manipulation, DoS attacks, and information leaks.

All Apple users are strongly urged to update their software immediately and monitor for any suspicious activity. Don’t wait—secure your device now!

Recommended Action

CERT-In advises users to update their Apple devices immediately to the latest software versions to fix these vulnerabilities. Apple has already notified its users and released patches to help mitigate the risks.
