Mumbai: Mumbai Chandiwal Commission has issued a label warrant against former Maharashtra Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. In fact, under the recent information, a bailable warrant of Rs.50,000 has been issued by the Commission. Not only that, the Commission has directed the DGP (DGP) of Maharashtra to depute a senior officer to give the warrant. You must be aware that Param Bir Singh of Chandiwal's commission of inquiry had not appeared before in the corruption case against former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

In fact, the Commission had taken a strong stand against Singh and said that if Singh did not appear for the next hearing, a warrant would be issued against him. On the other hand, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh had written to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray accusing former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of extorting Rs 100 crore. After all this, the High Court also directed a CBI inquiry into the petition filed in the case.

Let me tell all of you that the State Government has initiated a parallel judicial inquiry into the allegations through the Commission of Inquiry headed by retired Mumbai High Court Judge Chandiwal. As part of the information received, the ED probe relates to an alleged bribe and recovery racket worth Rs 100 crore, forcing Deshmukh to resign as minister in April.
