Launching opposition parties on Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh's capital Visakhapatnam MP Vijaya Sai Reddy said that thousands of acres of land owned by TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and BJP MP Yee Sreejan Chaudhary are in Amravati and that is why they are opposing the bill.

Apart from this, he said, 'Some people are trying to obstruct the decision to make three capitals. As per the decision of the Chief Minister, Visakhapatnam will be the administrative capital. I do not know if the BJP is against this decision or not, but their MP, Sreejan Chaudhary, is opposing it. This is because Chandra Babu Naidu and Srijan Chaudhary have bought thousands of acres of land in Amravati.

Amid opposition from the opposition, the proposal to make three capitals for the state was passed in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. These three capital cities are Visakhapatnam, Kurnool, and Amravati. It is being opposed by the farmers of Amravati, including the former Chief Minister of the state, Chandrababu Naidu. The farmers also took out a rally in protest. The three-capital proposal of the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government got approval in the assembly. Under this proposal, the three capital cities for Andhra Pradesh will be the working capital Visakhapatnam, the legislative capital Amravati and the judicial capital Kurnool. After this, there will be Chief Minister's office, Raj Bhavan and Secretariat and other government offices in Visakhapatnam, while the High Court will be in Kurnool, while the state assembly will be in Amravati.
