The meeting is in line with his effort to be together all the Opposition parties on the same platform for an anti-BJP front ahead of counting of votes. “Naidu will hold a meeting with Mamata Banerjee at West Bengal secretariat this afternoon. Both will hold talks on the strategies of the ‘mahagatbandhan’ (grand alliance),” a highly placed source said.

According to reports, Naidu is discussing the post-poll scenario and a strategy to keep in mind in case BJP tries to stake claim to form the government despite falling short of numbers. Though Akhilesh and Mayawati have stayed away from Naidu's opposition unity bid, now they are also being seen warming up to him. On Saturday, he had met Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. The series of meetings is likely to increase as Exit polls have predicted NDA winning anywhere between 242 to 336 seats.

Interestingly, Naidu himself is facing a challenge from YSR Congress with several reports saying that Jaganmohan Reddy has an edge over him in the assembly polls - that were held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls.
