Exciting news for pilgrims! The registrations for Char Dham Yatra 2024 are now open. Starting May 10, on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Kedarnath have commenced their operations. Badrinath will open its gates to pilgrims from May 12.

These sacred sites, nestled in the high-altitude Himalayas, are usually closed for about six months during the harsh winters and reopen during the summer months, typically in April or May.

Traditionally, the Char Dham Yatra is undertaken in a clockwise direction, beginning at Yamunotri, then proceeding to Gangotri, Kedarnath, and finally concluding at Badrinath.

The journey to these revered shrines can be undertaken either by road or air. Helicopter services are available for those seeking a faster mode of transportation. Additionally, some devotees opt for a Do Dham Yatra, visiting only two shrines, Kedarnath and Badrinath.

For those eager to embark on this spiritual journey, registration is mandatory. You can register either at the designated registration centers or conveniently through the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app, available on both Android and iOS platforms. Alternatively, registration can be done via Whatsapp by sending a message with the keyword "Yatra" to +91 8394833833.

Upon registration, each devotee receives a unique QR code, granting access to various services such as pooja booking, helicopter service, and information on darshan timings. Assistance is also available via phone at 0135 - 1364 or email at info.utdb[at]gmail.com.

Offline registration is also possible at several physical centers located at key points along the route, including Haridwar Rahi Hotel, Rishikesh ISBT, Rishikesh Gurdwara, Janki Chatti, Sonprayag, Barkot, Hina (Uttarkashi), Pankhi, Joshimath, Gaurikund, and Govind Ghat.

For those planning to visit Kedarnath, Yatra Buses are available from Rishikesh or Haridwar. Alternatively, taxi services can be availed from these cities to Gaurikund, the final road stop before Kedarnath. From Gaurikund, pilgrims must embark on a 17-km uphill trek or opt for pony, doli (palanquin), or helicopter shuttle services.

To reach Badrinath, buses and taxis are readily available from Rishikesh and Haridwar, with the journey spanning approximately 300 km from Rishikesh and 320 km from Haridwar.

Yamunotri, the starting point of the pilgrimage, can be reached by traveling approximately 220 km by road from Rishikesh to Janki Chatti. From there, pilgrims undertake a 5-km uphill journey to Yamunotri Dham, with pony and doli services available.

Gangotri, with good road connectivity, is approximately 270 km from Rishikesh. Travelers can easily book buses or taxis from Rishikesh or Haridwar to reach this sacred town.

With the registration process streamlined and transportation options abundant, pilgrims can now embark on their Char Dham Yatra with ease and convenience, seeking blessings and spiritual fulfillment along the way.
