Nainital: Even after the high court's reprimand, the Uttarakhand government was ready to conduct Chardham yatra including Badrinath-Kedarnath but now, under the recent information, the Uttarakhand government has canceled all the Yatras. The government, which is reportedly on the backfoot, will no longer start Chardham yatra for local residents from July 1. As part of the information received, in a cabinet meeting chaired by CM Tirath Singh Rawat, the people of Uttarkashi district had announced to start their journey from 1st July at Badrinath Dham for the people of Gangotri and Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Chamoli districts for the people of Rudraprayag district.
It was proposed to start Chardham yatra from July 11 for devotees from across the state. Earlier, the High Court of Nainital had stayed the state cabinet's decision to start Chardham yatra from July 1. In fact, the court has issued directions to the government to conduct a live telecast of the worshiping.
In addition, the court has been asked to submit an affidavit on July 7. A bench of Chief Justice RS Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Verma heard the entire case. The government submitted an affidavit in the court last Monday on the same Chardham yatra but the court is not satisfied with the affidavit. The petitioners expressed different objections in the court regarding the affidavit. Sachchidanand Dabral's advocate Shiv Bhatt has termed the affidavit as misleading.
