Jaipur: The Charan Samaj in Rajasthan has lodged a complaint in Jodhpur against Congress national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala's statement on Ram temple donations. The Charan Samaj had moved the court to register a case against Congress national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala on which the court has ordered the police to register a case and conduct an inquiry.

It may be recalled that Randeep Singh Surjewala had tweeted on June 20 that "crores of countrymen have donated thousands of crores of rupees for the construction of Lord Shriram Temple in Ayodhya, but Ravana's charans are eyeing donations. After which the Charan Samaj in its complaint in the court had alleged that Surjewala had insulted a particular caste community with his statement.''

The court has registered a case at the Kudi police station and directed an inquiry. According to sources, earlier in June, the Shekhawati Charan Sabha had submitted a memorandum to Rajasthan Congress unit president and Minister of State for Education of Gehlot government Govind Singh Dotasra in the matter. The society had demanded that the Congress spokesperson withdraw his remarks. The memorandum had said that Surjewala had made undignified and indecent remarks on the Charan community in a statement related to the Ram Janmabhoomi donation on June 20.
