Dehradun: The cupboards of Kedarnath and Yamunotri Dham have been closed for winter today on the auspicious occasion of Bhai Dooj. The cupboards of Kedarnath Dham were closed at 8.00 am. Mahadev's doli Dham will leave for his winter throne Omkareshwar Temple Ukhimath and reach Rampur for a night stay. Mahadev's doli will be placed at the winter throne on November 7. Where devotees will be able to pay obeisance and worship for 6 months.

A special puja of Mahadev began at Kedarnath temple from 4 am. The aarti was taken down by chief priest Bagesh Ling by anointing Baba Kedar with the law. At the same time, the linga was covered with ashes, giving samadhi to the self-styled Jyotirlinga. Thereafter, the Panchmukhi Bhog statue of Baba Kedar was adorned and installed in the Chal Vigraha Utsav Doli. According to tradition, the statue of Baba Kedar was kept in the temple premises for the devotees.

Also, at 8.00 a.m., the cupboards of Kedarnath Dham were closed in the presence of SDM Jitendra Verma of Ukhimath and the Additional Executive Officer of the Devasthanam Board. At the same time, the key to the temple cupboard was handed over to the SDM. Baba Kedar's Doli temple then left for Ukhimath, his winter throne, Omkareshwar temple, amidst the cheers of devotees. Doli will reach Rampur, the first stop for a night stay, blessing devotees at Rudra Point, Lincholi, Rambara, Bhimbali, Jangalchatti, Gaurikund, and Sonprayag.
