Emraan Hashmi’s Why Cheat India has released yesterday at the silver screen. The film opened to positive responses from the critics and audience alike but this reponse was not enough to give a strong opning to the film. Despite the strong reviews, the film managed to rake in just Rs 1.71 crores at the box office on Day one.
Notable business analyst and film critics Taran Adarsh shared the day one box office numbers of Why Cheat India on his social media. His tweer reads, "#WhyCheatIndia is a non-starter... Needs miraculous growth over the weekend to post a decent total... Fri ₹ 1.71 cr. India biz." However, it is said that the film is expected to see growth over the weekend.

Soumik Sen directorial Why Cheat India revolves around the Indian education system and the consistent problem of cheating in exams. In the film, Emraan plays the role of an agent (Rakesh Singh) who helps wealthy students pass exams by making bright but economically backward students write their papers. Shreya Dhanwanthary is playing the leading lady in the film. The music of the film is composed by Rochak Kohli, Guru Randhawa, Krsna Solo, Kunaal-Rangon, Agnee and Soumik Sen while the lyrics are penned by Manoj Muntashir, Kumaar, Kunaal Verma, Guru Randhawa and Juhi Saklani.
