A 63-year-old man, the relative of history-sheeter Chenna alias Chennakesavalu, was slashed to death by a gang of 3 on Tuesday mid-afternoon.

The incident took place hardly about 100 m away from his house in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar in Pulianthope.

According to police sources, 63-year-old Radhakrishnan was seated at a tea shop around 5:30 am and was having tea, then the gang of 3 men came armed with sickles banged his head and slashed him to death. Alarmed, the tea stall owner rushed to the police to inform about the murder. The cops then visited the spot and sent the body to Kilpauk Medical College and hospital.

They suspect the previous enmity to be the reason for the murder. They feel the murder could be linked between two groups who wanted to establish their supremacy in the locality.

Radhakrishnan’s family members suspect the associates of another history-sheeter Arcot Suresh to be behind the murder.

Radhakrishnan was staying with his son who was pursuing law. His son informed the cops that his father was receiving threats from many days from the people of Suresh.

Due to this, they had also decided to shift the place, but for some reason, Radhakrishnan decided to stay back. He added that despite being Chenna’s relative, his father was in good terms with police and was never involved in his cases.

According to preliminary investigations, history-sheeter Chenna alias Chennakesavalu was murdered by a 10-member gang, who was later identified as associated of Arcot Suresh, in 2010 at the court complex when he arrived for a trial in an explosive case.
