New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) by 5 wickets in the 59th match of IPL 2022 on Thursday night. With this defeat, Chennai's hopes of reaching the playoffs have ended. Chennai has become the second team after Mumbai to be out of IPL 2022. Earlier in IPL 2022, the team could not qualify for the playoffs. Even during that time the market was hot with Dhoni's retirement and now that CSK is once again out of the league stage, talks of Dhoni's retirement have started rising in the corridors of cricket.

Let us tell you that Dhoni has retired from international cricket in August 2020, now he is seen playing only in IPL. Former India opener Sunil Gavaskar has now given his opinion on this issue. Gavaskar says that Dhoni is still keen on the game and will continue to play. Regarding the retirement of 40-year-old Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Little Master said, 'Look at how he has played against Mumbai. It is clearly visible that he is very keen and excited about the game.

Gavaskar said that a lot was visible on the field today. He was running from one end to the other, which means he was curious. He senses an opportunity when those 2 or 3 early wickets fall. We have seen him do this quite regularly. Which means 'certainly not' (with regard to Dhoni's retirement). Let us tell you that even though the entire team of CSK was reduced to 97 runs against MI, but Mahendra Singh Dhoni stood alone like a lion at the other end. During this, Dhoni played an unbeaten innings of 36 runs in 33 balls. Mumbai had achieved this target with 31 balls to spare.
