CHENNAI: Three people, including one for the Thursday murder of a 24-year-old woman who lived in New Washermenpet, have been taken into custody by the Fishing Harbour police. On November 11, the woman was found dead in her home. Her husband is among those detained.

According to a Fishing Harbour station police official, the victim, Sumitra, shared a home in Nagooran Thottam with her husband Selvam, two children, mother Regina, and father Selvakumar. When family members told the police that Sumithra was dead in her bed, the police sent the body to the Government Stanley Hospital for a post-mortem and opened an investigation into the death as suspicious.

During their investigation, the police identified that the victim had sustained a head injury and was murdered by the husband and her parents, who suspected infidelity on her part. The Fishing Harbour police detained M. Selvam, and the victim’s parents Regina and Selvakumar.

The three culprits were later produced before a judicial magistrate and sent to prison.
