CHENNAI: The 7th edition of Junior Super Kings inter-school T20 tournament will be held in Chennai between December 26, 2022 and January 22, 2023.

At a ceremony at Super Kings Academy in Thoraipakkam, Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming unveiled the competition's jersey and trophy.

A total of 15 districts in Tamil Nadu namely Chennai, Trichy, Villupuram, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Salem, Erode, Vellore, Ranipet, Madurai, Dindigul, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Tenkasi, and Kanyakumari, will host the 86-team Junior Super Kings 2022–23 competition.

"Junior Super Kings was initially introduced in Chennai, India, in 2012 as a 32-team tournament. It has since developed into a pan-Tamil Nadu event that discovers talent from all throughout the state. We are happy that the competition has returned following a two-year hiatus brought on by COVID.

The Junior Super Kings tournament has given opportunities to players like Shahrukh Khan, Washington Sundar, and Sai Sudarshan among others. "Chennai Super Kings has always believed in giving back to the sport, and Junior Super Kings is an important part of our plans to develop grassroot cricket throughout Tamil Nadu. The CEO of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited, KS Viswanathan, predicted that several new stars would emerge this year.

Junior Super Kings is a great opportunity for youngsters young people in Tamil Nadu, Fleming said.  My message to the players is to dream big. Perform well in the tournament and aim to be the next player to represent CSK! Play the tournament hard but as MS Dhoni always says, play it fair with a smile on your face. I wish you all the best."
