Actress Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Messi have taken a new turn with the starter film Chhapak. Regarding copyright, director Meghna Gulzar has presented her stand before the Bombay High Court. She said that copyright cannot be claimed on any true incident. The same Meghna put this matter in the case in which a writer has claimed that the upcoming film 'Chhapak' is based on the story she wrote on the true incident. According to a media reporter, Gulzar has given an affidavit. She has given this affidavit in the case filed by author Rakesh Bharti. Bharti has filed a case seeking credit for the film as a writer. The affidavit was filed by Amit Naik and Madhu Gadodia, lawyers of Naik & Naik Company.

She said about the trial, "It is completely wrong and legally untenable." Further, the affidavit filed states that the suit filed is in no way a failure to make a copyright case. Information that is included in the public domain does not fall under CoffeeRight. In the affidavit, director Meghna Gulzar said, "In the present case, the plaintiff (Bharathi) has sought protection on the story of acid attack victim Lakshmi Agarwal. Copyright cannot be claimed on any true events or events. '
