Every year the Mahaparv Chhath Puja of faith is celebrated on the Shashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. This time the best date is 20 November 2020, on Friday. Chhath Puja is the main festival of residents of Bihar and Jharkhand, but it is celebrated all over North India. This festival of devotion of Sun is also considered to be the best example of nature love and nature worship. On Chhath Puja festival lasting four days, there is an atmosphere of great celebration and enthusiasm in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. This time due to the outbreak of COVID-19, many public functions are banned. Even after this, the passion and faith of the people did not seem to decrease.

When is Nahay Khay?
Chhath Puja begins two days before Shashthi Tithi, which is on Wednesday this time. Nahay Khay is on Chaturthi. On the day of Nahay-Khay, people clean the house / cleanse and take satvik food throughout the day. After that, Kharna starts on Panchami Tithi, in which fasting is done in the day and in the evening and taking satvic food like jaggery kheer/pumpkin kheer etc. in the evening. 

Observe Nirjala fast on Shashthi
On Shashthi, Nirjala fast is observed. This fast begins in the evening on the day of Kharna. Chhath means offering Argh to the setting sun on the evening of Shashthi Tithi and waiting for the rising sun on the next day in the morning. Along with offering Argh to the rising sun on Saptami, the Nirjala fast lasting about 36 hours ends. The fasters of Chhath Puja believe that the worshipers of Chhath Maiya are worshipped with full devotion.
