Raipur: Ojasvi Mandavi, wife of the tribal BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi, who lost his life in the Naxalite attack, will contest on his seat. She has filed the first part of her nomination as a BJP candidate on Monday from Dantewada, her husband's seat. Ojasvi Mandavi said that I will do my best to prepare and win the election. She said that she would start her campaign from Shyamagiri area where Naxalites killed my husband.
I want to fulfill his dream of working for the welfare of the people here. Let us tell you that in April, in Naxal-affected Dantewada of Chhattisgarh, Naxalites attacked the BJP convoy shortly before the campaign for the first phase of voting in the state was stopped. Naxalites blew MLA Bhima Mandavi's vehicle IED (Improvised Explosive Device).
In this Mandavi was killed as well as four soldiers posted under his protection were martyred. During the time when the attack was carried out, the MLAs were coming for the election. Bhima Mandavi became the first-time MLA from Dantewada seat. Congress candidate Deoti Karma lost in 2013, he won again in 2018. He was the only MLA from Bastar. Congress returned to power in the state after 15 years.
