In the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police personnel posted during lockdown will be given cash prizes based on their daily performance. A senior police officer said that policemen from the Surguja range of Chhattisgarh would get cash prizes every day for their performance.

In his statement, Inspector General of Police (Surguja Range) Ratanlal Dangi said that the police personnel have ensured strict compliance of the restrictive orders and also helped the people during the lockdown. He said that the policemen, who are deployed in field duty, are staying with their families to prevent the spread of this deadly infection. He said, "Since Tuesday, we have decided to give daily cash prizes to boost the morale of police personnel." Nearly 8,000 district force personnel are deployed in the northern part of the state including Sarguja, Jashpur, Korea, Balrampur and Surajpur districts.

Apart from this, he said that one station house officer, two sub-inspectors, two assistant sub-inspectors, two head constables and five constables from each of the five districts would be shortlisted for the daily award by the concerned Superintendent of Police. The same, moreover, senior police officers will be given citations based on their performance, which will be included in their service records. So far, no case of COVID-19 has been reported in the Surguja Division.
