Raipur: 26 Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force soldiers have fallen ill after eating at their camp in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh. Rajnandgaon district officials said on Friday that 26 force personnel fell ill after eating at an ITBP camp in Malaida village of the district on Wednesday night.

Officials said the soldiers reached the camp after the anti-Naxal operation on Wednesday. Due to this, the soldiers had taken paneer and meat. Shortly after the meal, the soldiers complained of vomiting and diarrhoea and were admitted to the Community Health Centre in Khairagarh. He said 21 soldiers were admitted on Thursday evening and five were admitted this morning.

District Collector of Rajnandgaon district Taran Prakash Sinha said that the condition of the soldiers is out of danger and all are being treated. Sinha said that an officer and medical team of the district administration has been sent to the camp so that other soldiers can be treated immediately if they fall ill. Officials said that all the soldiers are from the 40th battalion of ITBP and are posted at Malaida camp located in Naxal affected area on Chhattisgarh-Madhya Pradesh border, about 150 km from the capital Raipur. Senior officials of the state said, CM Bhupesh Baghel has directed the district collector and superintendent of police to ensure better treatment of the victims.
