Between the Corona crisis and the lockdown, Chhattisgarh has become the largest shopping state in the country on the support price of minor forest produce. So far, minor forest produces worth 18 crores 67 lakh 26 thousand have been purchased across the country. Out of this, the figure of Chhattisgarh alone is 18 crore 63 lakh 82 thousand. This report has been released by The Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED). According to the report, the purchase of small forest produce has started in only three states.

Apart from Chhattisgarh, three lakh 39 thousand have been purchased in Jharkhand and five thousand small forests produce in Odisha. This figure of small forest produce is increasing continuously in the state. According to the latest data of the state government, 72 thousand 727 quintals of minor forest produce worth about 21 crores have been collected from one lakh 32 thousand 272 collectors in Chhattisgarh during the current season.

In this hour of crisis due to lockdown, the forest dwellers and villagers of Vananchal are getting relief from the purchase and cash payment process on the support price of small forest produce. Also, employment opportunities for forest produce collectors have also increased. Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar said that from the year 2015 to 2018 only seven forest produce were being purchased in the state at the support price. On the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the number of minor forests produces purchased earlier was increased to 22, now it has been increased to 23.
