A day after In Chhattisgarh, the factionalism is far from over with tension still simmering within the party over Bhupesh Baghel and TS Singh Deo.

A video of the incident which has already gone viral shows a party leader being pushed off the podium when he started to address the gathering. Local Congress leaders and workers entered into a fight at the party workers conference in Jashpur after former district president Pawan Agarwal was pushed away from the podium and stopped from speaking.

In the wake of the violence, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh  Bhupesh Baghel on Monday said the incident was ''unfortunate'' and said it could have been averted, adding that the issue of rotating the chief minister's post should not be raised again and again to disturb the atmosphere in the state. The Chief Minister said, "Those things which had been clarified by the AICC state in-charge P L Punia Sahab, should not be raised again and again to disturb the atmosphere. The incident could have been avoided. It was unfortunate and it should not have happened." Briefing about his Lucknow visit, Baghel, who has been made senior observer by the Congress for the U.P. Assembly polls due next year, said there is a two-day program in the Uttar Pradesh capital during which discussions will be held with social organizations and political leaders.

The fight for power in Chhattisgarh between Baghel and Singh Deo appears to have amicably settled at the top, but the feud is very much visible at the lower level in the ruling Congress.
