New Delhi: During the hearing on a petition related to Article 370 of the Constitution from Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi made an important comment. Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said that "I will go to Kashmir myself if it is necessary after getting a report from the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court".

In fact, Chief Justice Gogoi made this remark when child rights activist Inakshi Ganguly raised the issue of arrest of children below the age of 18 years imprisoned in the jails of the valley. He asked for information related to those cases which the High Court Committee is looking into. Chief Justice Gogoi asked him to appeal to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court for this. So the lawyer for Inakshi said that it is very difficult to approach the High Court.

Subsequently, the Supreme Court sought a report from the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court on the allegation that people were facing problems in contacting the High Court. The CJI has said that if people are unable to contact the High Court, then it is a very serious matter. Chief Justice Gogoi said, 'I will speak to the judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court myself, this is a serious matter'.
