Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday met Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan and invited him as the chief guest at the YSR Lifetime Achievement Award distribution program to be held on November 1. The Chief Minister informed the Governor about the awards to be given to 50 persons in recognition of their services in various fields. The awards will be presented at a function to be held in Vijayawada.
The state government had earlier planned to hold the function on August 23, but it was postponed due to the COVID pandemic. He is understood to have briefed the governor about the cabinet's decision to hold the assembly session from November 17 and other decisions of the council of ministers. The Chief Minister was accompanied by his wife YS Bharti. The Minister said that the Cabinet has approved to organize YSR Lifetime Achievement and YSR Achievement Award Ceremony on 1st of November every year on the occasion of Formation Day of Andhra Pradesh State.
The YSR Awards were to be conferred on individuals and institutions on the eve of the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, but were canceled due to the COVID pandemic and lockdown restrictions. The awards include 29 YSR Lifetime Achievement Awards and 30 YSR Achievement Awards. Altogether eight organisations, 11 people from agriculture and allied activities, 20 people from arts and culture, seven individuals from literature, six journalists, seven medical professionals from Andhra Pradesh will be felicitated in a function held on Monday.YSR Lifetime Achievement Award winners Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy will be presented with a bronze memento and a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh.
