Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh): Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has urged the world to recognise the production of fisheries worldwide. On world fisheries day, CM has taken effective steps towards providing basic facilities to fishermen. The foundation stone of the shipping ports under construction. Shipping ports are constructed in four districts like Juvvaladinne in Nellore, Uppada in East Godavari district, Nizamabad in Guntur and Machilipatnam in Krishna district. This will benefit 6.3 lakh fishermen and help in fishing.

The authorities have completed the preparations to start construction work. 25 Aqua Hubs will be constructed at a total cost of Rs.1,735 crore. It is proposed to set up a qua hub in every Lok Sabha constituency where the market is required for aqua production in the state.

The government has provided financial assistance of Rs.10,000 per family. About 2,337 families in the coastal area were helped by the government. Diesel subsidy has been increased from 6 to 9 thousand rupees.

The Chief Minister said that the amount given as compensation was also increased to Rs 10 lakh if the fisherman died worldwide during the fishing season. Farmers working in fish production are charged one and a half rupees per unit for electricity. Aqua industries have been created to preserve the quality of fish production. Ordinance was brought to establish the Fisheries University in West Godavari district.
