Karnol: Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy will start the 12-day Tungabhadra Pushkar starting this Friday. The district administration and the Kurnool Municipal Corporation have formed special teams to monitor the arrangements and facilities during the Pushkaram. and 23 Pushkar Ghats - 10 of them are in the city of Kurnool and 350 priests have been appointed to maintain sensitive behaviour and other rituals. A huge Yajna was set up at Sankal Bagh in the city to perform the 12-day ceremony.
To avoid the spread of Covid-19, travelers are only allowed through the e-ticket system. Also, no one is allowed to drown in Tungabhadra. Collector G. Veerapandian, Superintendent of Police K. Fakerappa, KMC chief DK Balaji and other officials have been regularly monitoring the arrangements over the past few days. It is observed that pushkaram is held once in 12 years and millions of pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana and Maharashtra sink in to the Tungabhadra River.
Pushkar Ghats in Mantralayam, Naguladin in Nandavaram Mandal, Gundarevula in Kodumur Mandal, Kurnool Mandal, Kurnool, Nandikotkur Rural, Kotapalli Mandal in Sangameswaram. Officials have set up special tents, dressing rooms, toilets and bathrooms to maintain cleanliness. Apart from this, the district administration has also set up temporary hospitals and sheds, traffic control lines, swimmers, bus services, cultural programs, water and food distribution counters and central control room. Fekreppa said more than 4,000 police personnel were deployed to make the program smooth.
