The Supreme Court said on Wednesday that children should be included in the proposed scheme of the National Legal Services Authority regarding sexual harassment and compensation for acid attack victims. A bench headed by Justice Madan B Lokur said that minorities can be included in the scheme by bringing minor changes in the scheme. The bench asked Amicus Curie senior advocate Indira Jaisingh to give an opinion on this.
According to the proposed scheme, the gangrape victim should get a compensation of at least five lakh and a maximum of 10 lakh rupees. On the other hand, victims of rape and unnatural sexual harassment should get a minimum of four lakh and maximum compensation of seven lakh rupees.
