The Lost at a Home report published by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said that in 2019 about 3.3 crore new displacements were recorded, of which 25 million displacements were due to natural disasters and 85 million were due to conflict and violence.

This report said that out of the total displaced, 1.2 crore children were involved, out of which 38 lakh children were displaced due to conflict and violence and 82 lakh children were displaced due to weather-related disasters. The report said that more people were displaced due to natural disasters than conflict and violence. Around one crore new displacements occurred in East Asia and the Pacific in 2019, while an equal number of people in South Asia also suffered the bites of being displaced.

The total number of new internal displacements within India stood at 50,37,000 of which 50,18,000 were due to natural disasters and 19,000 people were displaced due to conflict and violence.
