New Delhi: Amid concerns over the third wave of corona infection, the Centre on Saturday said that children are not safe from infection, but the effect is minimal. Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Saturday, NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul said that if children are affected by corona, there will either be no symptoms or at least symptoms. They will not need to be admitted to the hospital normally.

NITI Aayog member VK Paul said that the second wave of epidemic slowly is coming under control with a steady decline in the number of positive cases daily. At the same time, the positivity rate has also increased. Experts have expressed concern over the third wave by the state governments. It has also expressed apprehension that this possible third wave could affect children.

In view of the possibility of the third wave of corona, the country has started preparations for the same. PM Narendra Modi had also recently asked state and district officials to collect data on the transmission and severity of infection sine the youth and children. Earlier, the Maharashtra government said it had started preparing for the third wave of epidemic and started setting up paediatric covid wards for children. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also said that the crisis of infection among children may increase.
