Children's Day, also known as Bal Diwas, is observed nationwide on November 14 in honour of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister, on the occasion of his birthday. His birth year was 1889, and he was known as Chacha Nehru. He was highly known and respected for his kindness for children. Nehru founded Children's Film Society India in 1995 in an effort to produce locally produced children's films and to advance every child's right to entertainment.

In addition to honouring him for his love of children and the nation's development, the day is observed on the anniversary of his birth.

History, significance, and celebrations of Children's Day: When Nehru passed away in 1964, the celebrations were moved to the date of his birth anniversary in honour of his love for children and to honour him. Up until 1956, the Children’s Day celebration was observed across the counry as "Universal Children's Day" on November 20, the same day as the United Nations.

Every year on November 20, people all over the world commemorate Universal Children's Day. Essentially, it is observed to encourage children to be sociable, peaceful, and alert.

Nehru was a fervent supporter of children's education and firmly held the view that India may advance if every children and young person in the nation has the proper education. The future of the nation will be determined by the way we raise our children, according to a quote from Nehru.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM), and the National Institutes of Technology were among the pioneering institutions he helped create across the nation (NIT).

The day is observed in all schools with great excitement and a range of events and activities just for children because Nehru is also the person that children love the most.

To commemorate the day, activities such as dancing performances, essay writing contests, and singing competitions are planned.
