China has expressed its support for India's hosting of the upcoming G20 Summit and has affirmed its readiness to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure the success of this prominent global gathering, set to take place in New Delhi this week.

A spokesperson for China emphasized the significance of the G20 Summit and highlighted China's active involvement in relevant activities within the forum. In a statement, she stated, "We endorse India's role as the host of this year's summit and are fully prepared to cooperate with all participating nations to ensure the G20 Summit's triumph." The summit is scheduled to be held on September 9-10 in the Indian capital.

While avoiding direct reference to the ongoing border dispute between the two countries, the spokesperson mentioned, "The continuous enhancement and expansion of Sino-Indian relations align with the shared interests of both nations and their peoples. We are committed to working closely with India to further improve and advance our bilateral relations."

China regards the G20 as the primary platform for international economic cooperation, underscoring its commitment to fostering global economic stability and growth.

Chinese Premier Li will represent China at the ASEAN Summit in Indonesia from September 5 to 8 before heading to India following the East Asia Summit in Jakarta.

Several prominent leaders have confirmed their participation in the G20 Summit, including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The G20 member countries collectively represent a significant portion of the world's economic power, accounting for approximately 85 percent of global GDP, more than 75 percent of international trade, and around two-thirds of the world's population. The member nations include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US, and the European Union.

Meanwhile, a senior US official emphasized that China has the autonomy to determine its role in the G20 Summit in New Delhi. He asserted that if China opts to disrupt the proceedings, it has that choice.

Speaking at a White House press conference, US National Security Advisor Sullivan commented on the potential impact of border tensions between India and China on the G20 Summit. He stated, "Regarding the question of whether tensions between India and China will influence the summit – ultimately, that decision lies with China. If China chooses to act as a disruptor, that option remains available to them."
